In July, my husband and I took the short drive over the causeway to Long Beach Island, best known as “L.B.I.” to deliver four of my paintings that the gallery owner, Matt Burton, had invited me to exhibit. It’s a large and lovely space, displaying paintings, pottery and sculpture, and there’s a sculpture garden behind the building. My paintings on display include "Celestial Explosion," "This is Earth," "Ascension" and "New Dawn." All are shown on my home page and are featured in their own blog posts below. We spent over an hour talking with Matt about art, and I viewed the work of one of my favorite artists, Gwenn Seemel. Matt mentioned the area is known for celebrity sightings; names bandied about included Ray Romano and Taylor Swift. If you’ve never been to L.B.I., I suggest a visit. The beaches are beautiful, and, while there’s no boardwalk as at other famous NJ beaches, nature lovers (like me) can enjoy Barnegat Lighthouse State Park at the northern tip, and part of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge at the southern tip of this narrow 18-mile island.
